The NYS Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) is an alternative to traditional home care, allowing NYS Medicaid Consumers approved for long-term home care to direct their own care. If you or your loved one are in need of assistance with activities of daily living (ADL’s) – you may meet the criteria for CDPAP!
There are some limitations on who you can hire! However you can choose, train, and supervise who you want to take care of you!
Qualifications for CDPAP?
- Enrolled in Medicaid Managed Care
- Live in New York State
- Need help with Daily Activities
- Be self-directing. You are capable of making choices about the way you want to live; Understand the consequences of your choices and acknowledge responsibility for them. You assume responsibility for managing your own personal needs.
- If you are unable to be self-directing, you may designate a representative who is willing and competent to act on your behalf.

Kris Agency is a Certified New York State Fiscal Intermediary (FI) of the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP)
- Under CDPAP you are able to choose your family, friend, or neighbor, or anyone of your choice to take care of you and receive payment.
- They do not need prior training or a certificate. You will be in charge of recruiting, hiring, supervising, and dismissal of your personal assistant.
- Earn extra income while working part or full-time hours.
- We will take care of paying your aide(s) and applicable responsibilities as outlined by Medicaid.
